Race day at Boston is not the place to experiment with gear. Everything on your body should be tested, trusted, and optimized for 26.2 miles. Here is a complete gear checklist for Boston Marathon 2026 to make sure you toe the line in Hopkinton fully prepared.

Footwear and Socks

Your race shoes should have 2 to 3 runs on them — broken in but not worn down. Top picks for 2026 include the Nike Alphafly 3, Adidas Adizero Adios Pro 3, and Saucony Endorphin Pro 4. Pack your post-race bag with dry clothes, compression socks, a protein bar, and flip flops. The finish area on Boylston Street can be crowded and cold — having dry clothes ready makes a huge difference. A foam roller or travel massage ball in your hotel room will help your legs that evening.
